Education & Training
The Snapchef Foundation believes anyone who wants to enter the culinary field, should have the opportunity to do so. The Snapchef Foundation’s goal is to help provide the opportunity for someone to gain an education at an accredited culinary institute or with our apprentice and Fast-Track training programs. We have been able to contribute to education in the following areas:
- Established a scholarship fund for high achieving students at Johnson & Wales University’s College of Culinary Arts.
- Became an annual sponsor of the Massachusetts Restaurant Association’s Education Foundation ProStart Challenge
- Created the Snapchef Fast-Track training and apprenticeship program in our very own kitchens

What exactly are these initiatives mentioned above? Let us explain!
JWU Scholarship Fund – We are now in our 5th year with the scholarship fund awarded to two students who have a financial need and who have demonstrated a high level of proficiency, leadership, and professionalism.
ProStart Challenge – This annual event, sponsored by Snapchef, puts high schools from across Massachusetts against one another in various aspects of running a restaurant. From cooking meals to designing a menu and restaurant layout, the competition awards scholarships to the winning schools and sends the winning teams to the national competition. Not only have we been a proud sponsor but we also participate by judging some of the competitions!
Fast-Track training – The Snapchef Foundation’s Fast Track training is not your typical culinary school. With the end goal of launching your culinary career, we provide a robust culinary education program developed by our team of current and former executive chefs, and former faculty from some of the nation’s leading culinary institutions.
Apprentice program – The Snapchef Foundation also offers an apprenticeship program. The program combines supervised, on-the-job training with classroom instruction. Over the course of 12 weeks, apprentices will gain valuable experience working in some of the best kitchens. With this program, we are able to equip adults with varying skill levels, to develop new technical abilities while still earning an income.
By teaming up with local community organizations and generous donors, the Snapchef Foundation is able to help provide 600 meals a day to the residents of Providence in need. The meals are prepared daily and include fresh local produce and ingredients from companies across Rhode Island.
