Interviewed: Kelley McShane, Managing Partner, Granny Squibb’s Company

Tell us a little about your business and your role.

The Granny Squibb’s Company makes organic, gluten free, vegan, non-preservative and kosher certified iced tea. I am one of the owners and managing partners. I focus highly on sales, distribution, and partnerships.

What inspired your organization to help with food relief efforts?

One of the cornerstones of The Granny Squibb Company is being a support to our community. We believe in giving back to the community that gives so much to us. When the pandemic hit, we immediately recognized that food insecurity was going to increase. It was an easy decision to shift our efforts away from tradition distribution and sales and into donations. We shifted our jobs and focus to accommodate a need in our community.

What type of support do you provide the Snapchef Foundation (be specific)?

The Snapchef Foundation has and is continuing to provide tens of thousands of meals to Rhode Islanders in need. Granny Squibb’s plays a small role by donating and delivering cases of iced tea to be distributed with Snapchef’s prepared meals.

What would you say to encourage other food-related businesses to join the effort?

Rhode Island is a small state and we work better as a team. There is enough food in Rhode Island to feed everyone, as long as our community members step up and give where they can. Joining the efforts of Snapchef and other organizations that have stepped up during this time to feed our most vulnerable members is one way to be a contributing member during this time.
