The Snapchef Foundation is proud to announce that they are teaming up with the City of Providence to prepare over 500 meals per day, to families in need across the city.

Snapchef is the largest culinary staffing company in New England, providing staffing for foodservice establishments of any size throughout the region. Snapchef has been established in Providence, Rhode Island for over five years and has locations in Boston, Worcester, and Springfield, Massachusetts.

“When 95% of our culinary staffing business decreased within 72 hours, the Snapchef staff wanted to get back to what doing what we love, which is cooking.,” said Snapchef Founders Todd and Daniela Snopkowski. “We are grateful to Providence for welcoming us when we opened our new training kitchen in the city, and we are happy to help out the local residents get through these unprecedented times as we transition into a production kitchen.”

Following the COVID-19 outbreak, Snapchef transformed its Providence training kitchen into a fully functional prep kitchen with the ability to produce over 500 meals per day. Snapchef managers and staff will be working daily to prepare hot and cold meals that can be distributed to families and residents in need.

“We are starting with five hundred meals, but we hope to increase our production ability as more donations and efficiencies in the kitchen are made” added the Snopkowskis.

“We have seen an outpouring of support from businesses small and large, all finding unique ways to support their neighbors during a difficult time,” said Mayor Jorge Elorza. “I want to thank Snapchef for joining this effort, we are so grateful for their collaboration and commitment. With their support, we are providing our most vulnerable residents with delicious and nutritious meals, delivered to their doorstep. ”The Snapchef kitchen started cooking and putting together meals for distribution on April 13 and will continue to prepare meals throughout the pandemic. Snapchef plans to update its menu daily, providing residents with a variety of nutritionally complete meals, including servings of fresh fruits and vegetables. The family-style meals are distributed out through community-based organizations in coordination with the City of Providence’s Healthy Communities Office. In addition to the city, the Snapchef Foundation has teamed up with Gotham Greens, Granny Squibb’s Organic Iced Tea, Hope’s Harvest, Tourtellot & Co., and Whole Foods to help provide ingredients and supplies for meals.

As Snapchef continues to provide meals, they are always looking for donations to help keep up with the demand. Snapchef is looking for non-perishable food items, fresh produce, meat and proteins, to-go containers, and any other ingredients that could be helpful in providing nutritious meals.
